Creating Space for Learning & Growth

A map of the current available study spaces on the Boston Campus (above) vs the capacity of seating available across open spaces at various buildings on campus. With the total number of students on the Boston campus counting thousands, the spaces are designed to accomodate only a few hundred, so where do students go?

In this scenario, students are forced to find spaces off campus to study and work, which might be inconvenient at the least and affect productivity. The larger context is that higher education is changing, and the student population is increasing, especially in cities like Boston. The microscopic reality is that the lack of space availability is an issue that needs to be addressed by university administration sooner rather than later.

The above map indicates only some of the spaces available for free to students in the city, with a Northeastern pin for reference.
